We know that you may have many questions about this treatment as you do your research. We have compiled a list of common questions to help you along the way.
There is zero to mild pain during the treatment. You can immediately return to your life routine after the service, following the after care instructions given in your appointment.
Expect the area to feel tender and sore after the treatment.
Minimal to zero blood can be seem during the treatment.
Area will look red and swollen right after the treatment. Swollen will go away in the next 6 hours, redness will stay for 2-3 days.
A healing cream is applied on the treated area right after the service is completed.
You will get a full after-care kit with instructions on how to take care of the area and the proper ointment(s) you need during the healing process.
Expect keeping the area dry for 12 hours after your treatment.
Expect keeping the area away from sun exposure for 14 days.
Expect seeing a dark scab after 5-7 days of your treatment. It will peel off on its own after 7 days (depending on lifestyle, after-care and ethnicity).
Aspirin or ibuprofen 24-48 hours prior to your appointment.
Alcohol, caffeine, blood thinner the day of your appointment.
Fish oil or Vitamin E one week prior to your appointment (they are natural blood thinners).
“NOTE: Allergy testing is recommended before the scheduled appointment if there is any doubt you may be allergic to the pigment. CONTACT US if this is your case.
Avoid wearing tight clothing on the area for the next 3 days.
Avoid scratching or peeling to prevent infection or discolouration.
Avoid excessive sweating for 7 days. Moderate exercise is fine after 2 days of the treatment.
Avoid exposing the area to the full water pressure of the shower for 7 days.
Avoid tanning and swimming (beach, pool, jacuzzi, bath, etc.) for 40 days.
Avoid sunscreen, self-tanning or any cream that contains Vitamin D for 40 days.
Avoid perfume and deodorant near or in the treated area.
Yes! You can suntan once the area is fully healed (around 30-45 days). It is STRONGLY recommended to avoid sun exposure during the healing process, discolouration might occur otherwise.
For best long-term results, we recommend to apply a high SPF on the treated area prior to sun exposure and re-apply every 3 hours.
NOTE: Once healed —> Camouflaged Scars DO NOT change color or fade away when you tan. It is safe to go to the beach/pool as long as you’re wearing sunblock and re-applying every 3 hours.
30-90 days after your initial treatment. You should have a reliable visible indication of your final result.
After the treatment is done, you may experience some mild irritation, redness and swelling, which can last up to one week.
During the third week, the treated area will slightly get darker. DO NOT PANIC! It is healing.
Once this has subsided, you will begin to see the result of your treatment.
Medical Camouflage provides permanent results, if the after care protocol is followed as indicated. After several years ( 5 – 7 years) a color touch-up might be needed.
No, we recommend that you book your appointment for when your skin is not tanned. This ensures that we are able to mix the pigment that best matches your natural color.
